Caring for Canvas, Knit, and Leather Shoes

Good shoes last longer with a light routine — nothing complicated, just consistent care.

Knit & mesh sneakers

Remove insoles, place shoes in a laundry bag, and cold-wash gentle when the manufacturer allows machine washing. Air dry only; heat breaks down adhesives and foam.

Canvas

Spot clean with mild soap and a soft brush. For slip-ons worn weekly, a quick wipe after dusty days keeps salt and dirt from setting into the weave.

Leather

Wipe with a damp cloth, condition every few months, and use cedar trees if you own multiple pairs. Keep leather work boots away from direct radiator heat after wet days.

Sandals & slides

Cork footbeds prefer dry brushing; foam and synthetic straps take mild soap and water. Let everything dry fully before the next wear.
